Arrival procedures:

During NON-WAIVERED PERIODS use standard MAF arrival procedures.

As you clear the runway and check-in with ground, state the parking area you are looking to use e.g.  27 Charlie clear at Hotel – Bomber ramp;

Mustang 28 Victor clear at Foxtrot – FBO ramp;

T6 clear at Zulu- Trainer ramp

Caution- Even though the western third of 10/28 and Alpha west of Echo are closed to general aviation, they may be used in unusual circumstances; therefore, do not assume they are clear.

DON’Ts

DO NOT OVERFLY THE TERMINAL/AIRLINES/TELEVISION STUDIO/CAF DURING PITCH OUTS

DO NOT EXCEED 60 DEGREES IN PITCH OR BANK IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN.

Discussion- Several of the higher performance aircraft are requesting low pass down 10 to a right pitch to a downwind (usually 16). Of course, the tower is able to approve this “missed” option. What they cannot do is waive the rules of over flight of a congested area and pitch/bank limitations of 60 degrees. Do not “bet your ticket” on doing aggressive pitches.

Waiver period hours information:

  • From 0930 to 1230 CDT on Friday Aug. 26,
  • From 1130 to 1730 CDT on Saturday Aug. 27 inclusive,
  • From 1130 to 1730 CDT on Sunday Aug. 28 inclusive.

General Aviation (GA) aircraft are encouraged to fly into the CAF AIRSHO Friday 26 August, Saturday 27 August and Sunday 28 August.

Arrivals

Aircraft inbound to Midland International (MAF) will work with the local ATC for clearance into Class C airspace.  Aircraft should plan to arrive no later than 0900L on 28 Aug and 1100L on 29-30 August.  The TFR and Airsho waiver go into effect at 10000 on Friday, and 1200 Saturday and 1200 Sunday.

Parking

Aircraft parking will be handled by the FBO, Signature Flight Support.  Expect to park on the ramp south of the terminal.  Signature will have a shuttle between aircraft parking and their main facility.

Admission

Pilots and passengers flying into the Airshow are expected to pay the daily admission price for AIRSHO. The daily admission price is $25.Tickets are sold online, Click here.

Departure

Following the AIRSHO, departures will begin after Midland Airport Authority conducts a safety check of the airport.  This will take 30 to 45 minutes.  There will be a small window of opportunity between the end of the AIRSHO and before the airfield inspection starts where the Airboss will still control the airspace.  Pilots wishing to leave after the Missing Man formation should be in their aircraft with the engine running and contact the Airboss.  You will be cleared to taxi to the assigned runway and depart Midland’s airspace.
