When the CAF promises pyrotechnics, we’re not talking about sparklers. We’re talking explosions, smoke and flashes of bright, hot light!

The CAF's specialty pryro units provide the “WOW” factor at an airshow. The CAF's three pyro units work, both separately and together, at civilian and military airshows. While each of these units maintains its individuality, there are many who shoot, or blow stuff up, in more than one of the groups.

The Explosive Ordnance Detachment (EOD) was the CAF's first pyro unit. They provided ground pyro and simulations during airshow events. With members scattered around the globe and providing pyro for all CAF events, eventually the EOD needed some help.

Over the years, the TORA group expanded, obtained more aircraft and began to take the show on the road, so the TORA Bomb Squad was formed to provide pyro for that act.

When the need for a specialized pyro team arose, the Blastards came to life as a part of the West Texas Wing of the CAF.

All of the CAF's pyro units have the same mission – to provide a safe environment for those highly-trained personnel to continue to develop and meet the pyro demands of any airshow. And no matter what team you are playing on, each day begins and ends with safety.
